PEX Book Club

Hi! June is just around the corner, and this month for book club we’ll be reading Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas! If you haven’t heard about this delightful book that was originally published back on September 1st, 2020, then you’re in for a treat! Not only is it a wonderful and poignant read, but it also holds the claim for being the first book on the New York Times bestseller list by an openly Trans author with an openly Trans main character! (The sequel is forthcoming this September, in fact.) Magic, culture and more await in this YA adventure! Join us for book club on June 20th at 6 p.m. to discuss this book or just be in community with others who love reading and supporting Authors of Color! Below are suggestions of book stores to support that are owned by various People of Color. Clover Daydreams (Asian and Queer Owned) (Tacoma) Estelita’s Library - Justice Focused Community Bookstore & Library (Afro-Latinx Owned) (Seattle) Brave + Kind bookstore (Black Owned) (Decatur, Georgia) B L M F Literary Saloon (Black Owned) (Pike’s Place) Paperbacks & Frybread (Indigenous Owned) Birchbark Books & Native Arts (Indigenous Owned by Louise Erdrich) (Minneapolis, MN) Reparations Club (Black, Queer & Women owned) (Los Angeles, California) Hope to see you there! (What to expect: nuanced antiracist conversation in community with other like minded folks who are also intent on continuously decolonizing and becoming further enlightened, while also supporting businesses and people of the global majority in various forms, as we do so. Space is prioritized for Black, Indigenous, and other people of the global majority wherever possible; extra free copies and seats are prioritized for those previously mentioned, first, always.)" June 20th, 6-7pm
